The New Ending

I like My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic.

You have a problem with this?  Well, I really couldn't care less.  BUT for those who also like the show and have been anticipating season two for so long, I have to ask you something (assuming anyone even reads this besides me).  I just finished watching the first two episodes of season two and I enjoyed them, but I saw some problems..

My problems are:  1.)  this two part episode should have been three, or perhaps should have been an 80 minute movie divided up into two one-hour episodes (40 minutes each to allow time for commercials).  The story they were telling was too grand in scope for only two 23 minute episodes and so things felt rushed and characters got some of their stories chopped off, it seemed.  There was a lot more that COULD have been done but wasn't.
Which leads me to 2.)  This felt like it was supposed to be the cap-off to the first season.  It felt like Lauren Faust wanted to end the season the same way she began it, with an epic adventure that spanned the scope of the entire show thus far.  There were a lot of references to things that had gone down throughout the prior episodes and it just felt like everything was building to a head.  Not to mention the ending.  That just screamed epic ending to a really good series, and it had such an tone of finality to it that it was ill suited for the opener to the rest of the season.

If I were to put forth a theory of what I think happened.  I think that Faust MAY have wanted to make a short made for TV movie or a three or four part episode arch, but got shut down due to the time crunch or budget constraints.  Those two episodes were, in fact, made at the same time the whole of season one was being made.  I wonder if she butted heads with the producers or some other such thing.  I wonder if that is the reason she left the project.  Supposedly these were the last two episodes that Faust had any direct influence on, and after them, the rest will be just sort of, kind of, MAYBE be a little bit looked side-ways at by her.   There are a whole lot of speculation as to if the REAL new episodes will be as good a quality as the first season, and I have my doubts, but I will hold judgment on this matter till I actually see them.  We can all still think good thoughts at least.  And now ...

Bronies AWAY!!

OK, so I have a blog now ...

So, here we are.

TA-DA!   BLOG!   WELCOME TO MY BLOG!!

Yeah ... um ... blog ...  I'm not really sure what to put here.  I guess it could be something about me, since, you know, it's my blog and all.  Except that I don't want to sound like an arrogant ass or anything, so it will most likely just be little things I've had on my mind recently.

I could say something about how I only recently was able to admit to myself that I'm gay, but I don't really know what to do about it now.  Since it's relatively late in my life for revelations like this, I find myself sort of just hanging out in the wind on this one.  It doesn't really effect me that much either, since I'm single and not dating (and haven't dated in quite some time).

So now my new attitude is "Hi! I'm queer and that doesn't really effect how I do things at all, since I didn't really take it into account to begin with, but if you are too then ... wanna hook up?"  Yeah, pretty much I don't know how to be gay.   How ridiculous is that?

... stupid learning curve ...
